Last September 22, 23 and 24, the autumn edition of the MIF Paper Money Fair took place at MECC Maastricht. MIF organizer Dimitri Waltmans: ‘We are/were used to the fact that the autumn fair is usually less busy than the spring fair but what happened here exceeded our wildest expectations. Not only did we welcome more new traders and dealers, but also more visitors. For example, for the first time we had a batch of school classes as guests who attended the lectures by Royal Joh. Enschede and then walked onto the fair floor. We noticed that there is definitely an interest among young people in our world that they “as a generation with the debit card” have little or no knowledge of. We were able to observe that a number of them now have a new hobby with it as it once started with all of us.
Record of on-site gradings at the MIF
Waltmans continues his story:’To top it all off, the numbers of on-site gradings faced by the PMG International team were staggering. Although PMG under the leadership of Richard Stein was already anticipating an increase in on-site gradings, this time the numbers also exceeded the largest banknote fairs taking place in the United States and around the world, an absolute compliment and a significant boost for the MIF.
MIF Spring Fair: 3-4-5 MAY 2024
With a hefty growth in our pockets, we are now setting course for the spring fair that will take place at the MECC on May 3, 4 and 5, 2024. Once again, the MIF PRE-SHOW will take place beforehand, the by now familiar MIF Business2Business Friday evening is on the agenda and the ‘Goodmorning Maastricht’ breakfast, made possible by main sponsor and auction house Stack’s Bowers, is invariably on the schedule. Registration options are now online at www.mif-events.com.
